My son, Josh, was recently recognized as a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. The National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a national test given to high school juniors. Josh scored in the top 2% of students taking the test and is among 16,000 students in the US who are now semifinalists.
At this point, he must complete an essay (another one along with those for other college applications and his regular classes), and submit references from his teachers to qualify for a Merit Scholarship.
I’m proud to celebrate my son’s academic accomplishment, particularly in a time when sports accomplishments are held high. In the picture you can see that his high school also honored this accomplishment by putting all four students names “in lights” on the sign in front of the school.
